Success Story

Last week, Avaaz asked it's community to vote for a proposal they had submitted and been accepted into the UN's top-100 list of recommendations for public vote to be submitted to world leaders at the Rio Earth Summit. This proposal was to make plans to phase-out nearly $1 trillion in fossil fuel subsidies. Voting closed Thursday night New York time and the results have now been collated.

It's so encouraging to see that the Avaaz proposal has made it to the top ten! Now it's over to the world leaders to make good of it and draft a concrete agenda and not bow to bureaucrats or corporates from oil and coal, the public has spoken and we've made our views clear, who says people power doesn't work?
