Today I'm attending the Mass Lobby at the Scottish Parliament organised by Stop Climate Chaos Scotland (SCCS), meeting with my MSPs to ask them to ensure that the commitments set out in the Scottish Climate Change Act - to deliver year on year reductions in emissions, resulting in at least a 42% reduction by 2020 and 80% by 2050 (compared to 1990 levels0 actually happen, especially given that despite Scotland having world-leading Climate Change Act we have missed out first emissions reduction target. If anything emissions increased in 2010 (the year for which the latest data is available) so the Government is best to keep in mind that we can be world-leading in failing those targets again.
I'll be tweeting during the Lobby and if you couldn't make it along, that doesn't mean you can't participate as SCCS want to create a Get Your Act Together Twitter Storm today and tweets will be shown on a large screen in the Parliament during the event. Please join into the Twitter Storm by using the hashtag #gyat and tweet the questions you'd like to ask your MSPs (many are on Twitter so remember to also tweet them directly) or tweet about your climate change concerns. Let's make sure the MSPs hear us!
