Re-posting: Scottish Premiere of Unearthed

Scottish premiere of the incredible new fracking film
Unearthed by South African director - Jolynn Minnaar

About the film

Unearthed, an independent South African feature documentary, investigates fracking in the United States – the technology’s place of origin – in order to understand what this new method of gas extraction could mean for the semi-arid Karoo and other countries who are considering its implementation.

The film covers the extensive journey that Karoo born director, Jolynn Minnaar, took – 18 months of research; over 400 interviews; traveling across South Africa, the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom to get to the bottom of the controversial
topic.

Unearthed challenges the assertion that hydraulic fracturing is a safe, time-tested technology and questions whether shale gas is the solution for our energy-hungry
world.

We all face the potential risks to health, from the effects of possible contamination of our water, decimation of the environment and the huge impact on climate change from pollution of land and air. This film highlights the devastating effects.

There will be a Q & A after the film with the director Jolynn, producer Stacey and respected panel guests

Supported by Friends of the Earth- Scotland. Supported by Maria Montinaro from Concerned Communities of Falkirk (CCoF) www.faug.org.uk

Maria says: "This is a must see for every inhabitant of Scotland's Central Belt facing the prospect of unconventional gas under your home or in your community. Following two years of intensive investigations, now more than ever, I am convinced this industry is incompatible with safe and healthy living. It is my firm belief that to protect communities this Industry must be banned. Thanks to your efforts Falkirk is also able to host this event! Pity more communities couldn't have the same opportunity"
